Case Study 2: Critical Raw Water Pumping Station
Clayton Reference CP 000001
Site Critical raw water pumping station with five 2 MW pumps.
Objective There were five 36” G&C Butterfly pump delivery valves and two bypass valves. All were actuated by hydraulic actuators having accumulators for fail safe operation as it was essential that all valves closed on power
supply fail.
The system was proving unreliable and suffered from regular oil losses.
Solution We replaced all the old actuators with self contained units, and designed and manufactured a bespoke MCC with UPS backup along with all new cabling and interfaced with existing controls.
Notes The scheme was installed under CDM regulations with us acting as Principal Contractor.
