Case Study 7: 1960s Pumping Station
Clayton Reference CL 007103
Site A three screw pumping station built in the early 1960s.
Objective As the existing belt driven screw pumps were proving unreliable, the direct driven units and existing MCC needed replacement, including a new control system. The site had to remain in service.
Solution Claytons installed a new MCC. It was designed in two sections, allowing us to remove half of the existing MCC whilst installing one half of the new MCC.
After cabling the new screw pump to the new section of the MCC, we set the new screw pumps into operation, whilst completing the remainder of the changeover.
The supply and installation of the screw pumps was outsourced to others.
Notes No disruption occurred and the contract was completed to schedule.
